Frequently Asked Questions?

General Clinic Questions

  • Not at all! In Ontario, you do not need a doctor's referral to see a registered physiotherapist.
Physiotherapists are considered primary healthcare providers, which means you can book an appointment and begin treatment without seeing a physician first. However, some extended health insurance plans may require a referral for reimbursement, so it's a good idea to check with your provider before your visit.

  • Yes, the choice is yours. You're free to visit any physiotherapy clinic you prefer. No one can require

you to go to a specific clinic-not your doctor, insurance company, or hospital. You also have the right

    to:

    - Receive clear information about the provider's qualifications and clinic standards

    - Make your own healthcare choices

    - Access emergency care

    - Be treated with respect and confidentiality

    - Be involved in decisions and voice concerns when needed

  • We assess two key areas to ensure you're progressing:

    1. Physical signs - like pain levels, muscle strength, range of motion, and any numbness or tingling

    2. Functional ability - how well you're able to perform daily activities

  • Your first session typically lasts about 45 minutes, while follow-up visits are generally around 30 minutes in duration.
During your initial visit, your therapist will conduct a comprehensive assessment, including a detailed discussion of your medical history, current concerns, and personal goals. This session may also include some hands-on treatment and a demonstration of recommended exercises or stretches. Follow-up sessions focus on progressing your treatment plan, tracking improvements, and adjusting techniques as needed.
