After
graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Physical
Education (Kinesiology) degree majoring in Athletic Therapy, Lalit
worked in an occupational rehabilitation clinic performing functional
capacity assessments, designing industrial return-to-work and exercise
therapy programs, assessing job site demands, evaluating ergonomic
work stations, and teaching fitness and lifestyle education classes.
While at this clinic, he spearheaded cross training between professional
disciplines and shared these ideas in an international Telemedicine
Conference, "Breaking Down the Barriers Between Disciplines."
He then joined the Brain Injury team and provided on-site job coaching
to individuals with cognitive deficits and later was promoted to
Co-ordinator of Vocational Rehabilitation Services. He attained
his Registered Rehabilitation Professional designation through the
Canadian
Association of Rehabilitation Professionals. After nine years
of service, he utilized informational interview techniques to determine
the need for vocational rehabilitation services and founded Peak
Rehabilitation Consultants Inc.
Lalit has a passion for sports. He has volunteered and worked as
an Athletic Therapist for many Edmonton and Calgary sports teams
and has Co-ordinated the Sports Therapy Service for a local sports
medicine and rehabilitation clinic. He has also coached the S.A.I.T
Women's Volleyball team for two years. In the summer you will find
Lalit playing golf, football and baseball, and in the winter playing
squash and hockey. When he is not playing, he will be reading up
on the most recent high tech gadgets or travelling with his family
to far away places.
