Our goal is to create flexible and innovative client-centred vocational plans by providing individuals with the tools, structure, guidance, and support necessary to identify and secure long-term suitable employment.

This may involve traveling anywhere in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. Once we meet with the claimant, we review their work experience, transferable skills, education, and physical abilities and restrictions. We may conduct interest inventories, labour market surveys and transferable skill analysis to help identify alternate career options. Once options are identified, we educate our clients in career research techniques to determine if these options are viable. This ensures that the potential occupations that they are pursuing meet the clients commensurate level, are available in today's labour market, and are physically and cognitively appropriate. The referral source and claimant then approve a vocational plan.

We develop a resume and cover letter outlining transferable skills and experience specific to the chosen career. Job search techniques are taught based on the expectations of employers in today's job market. Claimants are taught interview techniques, which may be the greatest challenge for them as they attempt a career transition. They are usually faced with having to answer, "Why are you changing careers?" or, "Why is there a gap in your employment?"

Once a job is secured, on-site involvement may be required to assess ergonomics, educate co-workers, or to provide job coaching and cognitive retraining.

Often Rehabilitation Specialists or Claims Specialists have unique needs in terms of how they would like to be updated and informed of their claimants' progresses. Some require weekly phone, fax or email updates. Some request biweekly or monthly reports. We cater our services to your needs.

The same holds true for our claimants' needs. Some may require a work experience before entering the work force. Or, some may know what type of work they are looking for and require us to phone our employer contacts to search for a job opening. In either event, we will accommodate individual needs as much as possible.
